When a taxi is the sensible choice
Arriving alone or as a couple in low season at midday, going to Torremolinos or Málaga city, with one bag each? Take a taxi. The queue will be short, the meter will read €20–30 and you will be at the hotel in 15 minutes. We say this openly because it is true.
When a private transfer pays for itself
- Summer, Easter or any Friday evening. The taxi rank queue at Málaga Airport regularly exceeds 30–45 minutes in July and August. Your transfer driver is already inside the hall.
- Marbella and beyond. From Marbella onwards the metered taxi costs more than our fixed price, and the difference grows with distance: Estepona €110–130 by taxi versus €95 fixed, Nerja €95–110 versus €80.
- Families and groups of 5–7. One Tesla minivan at a fixed price replaces two taxis.
- Night arrivals. Fewer taxis, longer waits, night supplement on the meter. Our price does not change.
- Villas and urbanisations. Taxi drivers may not know the gate code or the unnamed street; your transfer driver receives the pin and instructions before you land.
What about the bus and the train?
The C-1 train is excellent for Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola and Málaga centre if you are travelling light and your accommodation is near a station. It costs about €2 and runs every 20 minutes. There is no train west of Fuengirola or east of Málaga, so Marbella, Estepona and Nerja mean a bus with at least one change, typically 1.5–3 hours with luggage.
